FACULTY
Dr. Amir Ahmad
Assistant Professor/ HODFocus of Community Medicine as a branch of medicine follows the age old saying that “Prevention is better than Cure”. Preventive medicine is only one part of
Community Medicine, which deals with preventing disease, prolonging life and improving physical health and well-being of the community at large. At the national level, study of Community Medicine contributes significantly to policy making and health related initiatives as well as developing strategies to meet international commitments like Sustainable Developing Goals, which include goals like reducing child and maternal mortality, eradicating preventable diseases, reducing incidence of HIV AIDS, achieving universal immunization etc.
The development of Community Medicine aims at educating the students on the theoretical and practical aspects of Community Medicine using case studies
and field trips to Basic Health Units (BHUs) and related Government Departments.
It also inculcates in the students a sense of social responsibility and community service at grass-root levels.
