Code of conduct

All students of ABWA Medical College abide by the rules as envisaged in the prospectus, college notifications and student study guides. Violation of these rules is identical to breaching college discipline. Cases will be forwarded to disciplinary committee. Recommendations of disciplinary committee will be forwarded to Principal ABWA Medical College for further action.

General rules

  • Students must maintain the decorum of the college by showing decent and respectable behavior.
  •  Students must be punctual during specified college activities (Lecture, Tutorial, Clinical Classes and Practical).
  • Students are not allowed to move aimlessly within college/Hospital premises.
  • Students should observe following dress code
  • Boys: Dress Pant, Collar shirt & polished shoes) Chapel without strap not allowed.
  • Girls: Shalwar, Qameez, Dupatta and Pump shoes. Sandals with straps). Tights/Pants flip flops & Chapels without strap are not allowed.
  • Overall is mandatory during teaching hours.
  • Smoking/drugs/alcohol is prohibited within the institution, attached hospital and hostels.
  • Displaying and distribution of any sort of pamphlets or circulars is not allowed within the institutions, attached hospital and hostels.
  • Any irregularity, neglect of duties and breach of discipline is not allowed within the institutions, attached hospital and hostels.
  • Any student breaking or damaging property of the institution shall be required to pay the cost of repair or replacement.
  • Every student to whom library books/bones/models/instruments are lend shall be responsible for their preservation in good condition and in the event of their being lost or damaged shall be required to replace or repay their cost.
  • Political activity/Press conference/Meeting or societies are not allowed within the institutions, attached hospital and hostels.
  • Ragging is absolutely prohibited. Zero tolerance to this attitude.

Attendance Rules

  • Regular and punctual attendance at lectures, demonstrations, practical in labs, tutorials, seminars, hospital wards, and in class & clinical and examinations is absolutely necessary. Students absenting themselves without any valid reason shall be liable to a fine as decided by the Principal.
  • Students who do not have 75 percent attendance or whose performance and conduct are not satisfactory, may not be allowed to appear at the University Examinations. There shall be no condoning for shortage of attendance.
  • The margin of 25% of absence in theoretical, lectures, practical classes and demonstrations and in hospital practice is intended to cover absence only on account of sickness or special emergency considered justifiable by the head of the institution.
  •  A written application by the student or by his/her parent or guardian, reporting his/her illness or other genuine reason of absence should be submitted to the principal through Head of Anatomy (for I year MBBS ) & through Head of Physiology (for II year MBBS)
  • Student leaving the hostel on Sundays & Holidays must apply and take permission to do so from hostel authorities and should not proceed on leave till it is sanctioned.
  • Medical education and student affair departments will keep necessary record of the leaves
  • Before leaving college the students shall submit application to the principal through respective HOD s appointed for the purpose.

Academic Calendar

  • Academic calendar will comprise of 36 weeks, divided into of 3 terms.
  • To evaluate student’s small tests will be arranged during the term. At the end of term there will be term test examination written/ OSPE & VIVA. Appearance in this test is mandatory.
  • Results of class tests & term tests will be included in internal assessment.
  • There will be parent teacher meeting after end of every term to share and discuss academic Performance of students with their parents. The meeting will be called by the Principal
  • At the end of the studies of academic year there will be a composite exam called send-up examination. Passing it is mandatory for appearing in annual professional examination.

Time Table

  • The program of lectures, practical classes, tutorial and hospital training will be notified by the Principal before the commencement of academic session and during the session if a change is required.

Classes

  • Teaching, learning, syllabus, courses & examinations are carried out according to the rules and regulations of the University of Health Sciences Lahore.

Vacations

  • Students will avail vacations in accordance with the schedule decided by the University of Health Sciences Lahore.

Annual Professional Examination

  • There will be five Professional Examinations for MBBS course as decided by the University of Health Sciences Lahore.
